Privacy Policy — Stay Near

Stay Near (the “app”) is developed by Lý Mạnh Linh. The app helps you keep important people close: your world map, footprints / journal, and memorable days — offline-first on your device.

1. Data stored on your device

Names of people, relationships, groups, notes / stories, photos attached to stories, remembered dates, and profile details (e.g. display name, gender) are stored on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your relationship or journal content.

2. iCloud (optional)

If you enable iCloud backup, the backup is stored in iCloud for your Apple ID (the app’s container). We do not access your iCloud.

3. File backup

You can export / import a backup file manually. The file stays under your control (e.g. sharing via email or another app). We do not receive a copy unless you send one for support.

4. In-app purchases (Premium)

Premium transactions (subscription or one-time purchase) are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your payment card details. Premium status is stored locally on the device after the store confirms the transaction.

5. Data sent over the network

Support: When you submit a support request in the app, the message content, reply email, and app / device version may be sent to the developer inbox via Web3Forms.
Crash reporting: Sentry may collect diagnostic data (stack trace, device, app version) when the app crashes — to improve stability. Not used for advertising tracking.
Product analytics (optional): On by default; turn off anytime in Settings. When enabled, Firebase Analytics receives anonymous events about how you use the app (for example features opened, map interactions, paywall shown) — never your notes, people’s names, or photos. Used only to improve Stay Near. Not for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps.
App update configuration: The app may fetch a recommended or minimum build number from Firebase Remote Config so we can invite you to update (or, rarely, require an update). This does not include your notes, names, or photos. Defaults are off until we publish a value. This fetch is separate from the optional product-analytics toggle.
Speech recognition: When you use speak-to-write, the operating system’s speech recognizer may process audio (Apple on iOS; the device / Google speech service on Android, under that provider’s policies). We do not run our own STT servers.

We do not sell data and do not use behavior-tracking ads. Relationship and journal content stays on your device (and optional iCloud / file backup you control); we do not operate a server that stores that content.

6. Device permissions

Microphone / Speech recognition: only when you actively record a footprint by voice or add a person by voice.
Notifications: to remind you of important days and optional story prompts, only after you allow notifications.
Camera / Photo library: only when you actively attach a photo to a story or choose a profile photo.

7. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect children’s data.
